What does this course entail?
This weekly yoga class for autistic young women provides a supportive and nurturing practice and environment that enhances physical, emotional, and mental well-being. It helps improve motor skills, coordination, and body awareness while providing effective tools for managing anxiety and stress and improving sleep patterns through calming breathing techniques and mindfulness.
Also, by fostering a sense of routine and predictability, yoga creates a safe space for developing better emotional regulation and self-esteem.
The non-competitive and inclusive nature of yoga promotes social connection, enabling young women to engage in a shared activity that supports their overall development and sense of community and belonging.
Is this class accessible?
The sessions will be adapted according to individual needs.
What about medical conditions?
The parent/carer must disclose co-occurring medical conditions, such as epilepsy, gastrointestinal issues, or cardiovascular concerns.
The classes will also include additional considerations, such as sensory sensitivities, anxiety and stress triggers, type of instruction, levels of communication, physical abilities, emotional regulation, transitions, and social dynamics.
